Laura grew up in Albany, New York, and came to Rochester in 1996 to attend Roberts Wesleyan College. While at Roberts, Laura met her husband, Ray, and earned her bachelor's degree. After working for 3 years in residential mental health, she returned to school to earn her MSW. Upon earning her MSW, Laura worked as an addictions counselor for 2 years. In 2006, Laura’s first child was born, and she became a stay-at-home mom, eventually choosing to homeschool her children. While homeschooling, Laura taught various subjects in co-ops and helped to start a new co-op during COVID. Laura has been active in children’s ministry since she was in high school and is currently the Assistant Children’s Director and the Special Needs Director at her church.

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, attending plays and musicals, and staying active through running and hiking. Laura enjoys traveling with her family and seeing new places. After visiting somewhere new, she likes to find historical fiction novels set in the cities or towns she has visited.
