The 13th annual Hospice Race took place on October 18. The American Christian Honor Society members participated at the 9th mile water stop by handing out water to the runners. They had a lot of fun and they fulfilled part of their community service hours required for membership to the society.
With nearly ideal running conditions this year - partly sunny, cool (low 40’s) and light winds - the 13th Annual Run for Hospice was a huge success! Combined participation in the two running events totaled 918, with 673 completing the 5K and 245 finishing the 10 miler. In addition, there were participants in the 5K fitness walk, and the 1/4 & 1/2 mile fun runs. Some of the area’s finest American and Canadian competitors descended upon Greece to participate in what has become one of the premier road races in the Greater Rochester area! In addition to the fine races and spectacular post-race party - no one goes home hungry - that has become this event’s trademark, a substantial amount of money was raised for Visiting Nurse Hospice (VNH) – to be announced at a later date. In its first twelve years, Run for Hospice has donated approximately $285,000 to VNH. |
